HITAM was started in 2001 as Royal College of Engineering at Medak. Since its inception, the institution has sought to impart qualitative education in the field of Engineering and Management. It is also the first campus in India that has been certified as a Silver Rated Green Building in the category of educational institutions, by LEEDS, US Green Building Council.  They have adopted best practices in education, eco-consciousness, career planning and faculty development to facilitate the holistic growth of their students.

 HITAM has developed and inaugurated the first NDLI (NATIONAL DIGITAL LIBRARY OF INDIA) Club. They encourage students to read and encourage reading in their circles. 

They have understood that reading is an essential 21st century skill that helps one develop a wider perspective, strong personality and great decision-making skills. In their quest to empower the youth – reading books has acquired a central spot in their pedagogy. They actively endorse an ecosystem where reading takes precedence. With the very first NDLI Club, they  have empowered their students to pursue reading not

just as a hobby but an important aspect of their education. During the pandemic they organized multiple author sessions, quizzes and webinars to keep their students engaged. They are using books as a central part of their pedagogy to improve language, communication skills, values, confidence as well knowledge in their students.
