Rain knows
\nwhich windows leak,<\/p>\n

which children are waiting
\nto jump into puddles,<\/p>\n

which commuters forgot umbrellas,<\/p>\n

which trees have been thirsty
\nfor weeks.<\/p>\n

Rain knows
\nhow cities smell
\nbefore they become wet,<\/p>\n

how rooftops sound
\nwhen thousands of drops
\narrive together,<\/p>\n

how one cup of chai
\ncan become warmer
\nbecause the sky is grey.<\/p>\n

It knows the exact moment
\na paper boat becomes brave,<\/p>\n

and the exact moment
\nit becomes paper again.<\/p>\n

Rain never asks
\nwhether we were ready.<\/p>\n

It simply arrives,<\/p>\n

turning ordinary roads
\ninto mirrors<\/p>\n

and reminding us
\nthat even the sky
\nsometimes needs
