Reading Habits
Food4 Thought Foundation strongly believes that one of the critical components in creation of enlightened nation and cities is the cultivation of reading habit. Our mission is creating active reading spaces and cultivating reading habit across India with special focus on Access to Books – Building Libraries
The team identifies the places where there is a need of libraries and build libraries from 250 to 500 books depending on category of library. In schools once the libraries are build in , the cluster champion carry out the following activities:
- The Joy of Reading sessions, this helps create interest in reading and develop the habit of reading of all kinds of categories of books
- Dictionary reading sessions – Helps in understanding the material they are reading and learn new words. Helps them improve their vocabulary as well as their confidence.
- iambond passport- Each of the young reader carries a passport wherein they share the book summary of the reading and get rewarded in form of stars.
- Book Carnival – Small skits based on Library books and award top 5 teams across all locations.
- Reflection Journal Competition(IRO-PAN India) – Conducting competitions wherein students participate on PAN India and write story reviews and get recognizing people who have contributed to igniting reading habits. Recognized in form of Awards and Certificate
- Online Story Session by story tellers to develop the skills of storytelling among students
