A VISION OF LIBRARY FOR EVERYONE

At Mitra Jyothi the focus is on visual disability and the various ways to overcome the associated stigma and social issues around it. They have about 3000 individual members and 80+ institutional members leading to 13500 primary beneficiaries and 54000+ secondary ones across India. The Educational Resource Centre at Mitra Jyothi is a pioneer in the creation of Audio/Digital/Braille Books in South India.

More than 25 Lakh pages of braille printing have been done and distributed to 40+ special schools across India, especially in Karnataka since 4 years. Mitra Jyothi is considered as main source for textbooks by all special schools in Karnataka.

 

They bridge the non-availability of equal opportunities by providing-

➢Access to textbooks and all kinds of Books/ magazines/ newspapers/ periodicals in Braille

➢Access to other reading material (e-Text, DAISY, Audio Books)

➢Access to Audio & Digital accessible Libraries

➢Denial of higher level Science and Math education

Mitra Jyothi team is presently working to come up with UPSC exam guidance book which can help many Visually Impaired students to crack UPSC exam. Through this book we aim to make an easy way for the visually impaired to write the UPSC exams. They are also working on a spelling guidance book for the blind students. There are many people, especially visually impaired who find it difficult to learn or talk in English. This book will help people to gain knowledge about basic English through which they can live independently.
