CHAT, MEET, READ, REPEAT

Book”O”holics was co-founded by Jigna and Neh Akansha in year 2016. Jigna, who was not much of a reader earlier, had initially started this club with 10 of her friends but today, it has grown into a group of 250 subscribed members with 1500 online participants. The purpose of this group is to socialize with the fellow book lovers, explore libraries and exchange books of various genres.

“They have their own book-borrowing policy, aim to spread knowledge about variety of genres, and facilitate connections between  authors and readers. The Founder was nominated for #MePadvidhar Award 2019 in the Literature Category. “

The idea behind the club is to create a sense of belonging for  community of readers where they share their mutual interest of reading. Meetings are held monthly (physical / virtual) in different parts of the city  where people come together to share their love of books through discussions & debates, and by lending & borrowing books. To further encourage the readers, they hold Whatsapp contests and a lucky lottery where the winner gets a book or a voucher.

Another initiative is the ‘Author Connects’, which is an extended platform for upcoming writers from the club. The group now consists of some talented published writers as its regular members. The community has made it easier for people to exchange books and to explore different genres before buying them. Club also plans to spread awareness programs about the benefits of reading among parents and kids in preschools and societies.
