The KV School, Pattom, Kerala  has set outstanding example for all the schools to run a library and develop reading among students as a true passion. The library and its reading programs helped the school to rank as the ‘Best Govt Day School in the country’ in 2015, 2016 & 2017 Education World Survey.

Unique reading initiatives like Face a book challenge has been conducted, ‘Gift a Book & Get a Friend’ was initiated where 4500 books were donated which helped in building 6 libraries and benefitting 2500 kids.

The Library at KV Pattom has been leading the reading revolution that took place in Kendriya Vidyalayas around the country during the last decade. A number of first of its kind initiatives which promote reading habits and support teaching and learning activities have made this library a dynamic, happening place in the school.

Some of the innovations and experiments carried out by the library to promote reading throughout the year include the ‘Library Junction’ which is an academic online social network with special groups focussing on books, characters and authors. E-Reading Hub is another such platform with 10 Kindle e-readers and thousands of e-books. ‘Drop Everything And Read (DEAR)’ and ‘Infobreak’ are programs that aim to develop students’ general knowledge.
